abstractA new species of ticks - Ixodes stromi belongs to a new subgenus - Ixodiopsis. The bult (sic) of the Ixodiopsis species is known from Northern and Central America, four species - from Asia. Ixodes (Ixodiopsis) stromi is by the complex of its characters the most closely related to the North America species I. (Ix.) ochotonae Greg. and I. (Ix.) holdenriedi Cooley. I. (Ix.) stromi is found in the Central Tian Shan, in the forest-grassland steppe belt of the mountain Kungei and Terskei Ala-Tau, in the stony habitats. The hosts of all the developmental phases are the following species: Alticola argentatus Severtz., Clethrionomis frater Thomas, Stenocranius gregalis Pall., Apodemus silvaticus L. The species is very rare one. Diagnosis of the subgenus Ixodiopsis is given by all the active phases of its life cycle, that of I. (Ix.) stromi - by the larva, nymph and female. There are 23 original illustrations in the presented paper.
