abstractThree species, Acrotocepheus paraduplicornutus and Dolicheremaeus spatulatus (Otocepheidae) and Suctoribates palawanensis (Rhynchoribatidae) are described as new to science while Phyllhermannia kanoi (Aoki) (Hermannniidae) and Archegotocepheus singularis Mahunka are recorded for the first time in the Philippines. Eighteen other species recorded or described elsewhere in the country are identified to occur also in Palawan Is., bringing the known species of oribatids there to 70.
Acrotocepheus paraduplicornutus is compared with A. duplicornutus (Aoki) based on specimens from Bangladesh where it is a new species record. Diagnostic notes are given for the otocepheid genus Acrotocepheus and the following new combinations are proposed for 9 species described by Mahunka in 1988 from Sabah (in Borneo Is.), Malaysia under Otocepheus - A. bajau, A. berndhauseri, A. kadazan, A. keningau, A. lienhardorum, A. nepenthes, A. orangutan, A. rafflesiae, and A. reniformis. The genus Archegotocepheus Mahunka 1988 is resurrected from synonymy with Megalotocepheus Aoki 1965, resulting into the following new combinations proposed herein - Archegotocepheus crinitus (Berlese 1905) from Carabodes (Otocepheus), A. polytychous (Wen 1999) from Megalotocepheus and A. undulatus (Hammer 1961) from Megalotocepheus.
