abstractA total of six pygmephoroid mite species are recorded in alcohol sediments containing bark beetle Ips typographus Linnaeus (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Scolytinae), collected by pheromone traps in Western Siberia, Russia. A new species Scutacarus pseudoplurisetus sp. nov. (Scutacaridae) and little-known species Coleopygmephorus bogenschutzi (Mahunka and Moser, 1982) comb. nov. (from Pseudopygmephorus Cross, 1965) (Neopygmephoridae) are described and redescribed, respectively. Coleopygmephorus bogenschutzi is recorded from Russia for the first time. Scutacarus scolyti Mahunka and Moser, 1982 (Scutacaridae), Coleopygmephorus hylophilus (Cooreman, 1963) (Neopygmephoridae), and Elattoma crossi Khaustov, 2000 (Pygmephoridae) are recorded from Asia for the first time. Scutacarus muscocicola Sevastianov, 1983 (Scutacaridae) and Elattoma crossi are recorded for the first time as associates of Ips typographus. A key to the species of Coleopygmephorus is provided.
