| abstract | The oribatid mite genus Paraxylobates (Oribatida, Haplozetidae) is recorded in Peru for the first time. A revised generic diagnosis is proposed. A new species is described from upper soil and leaf litter in a primary evergreen lowland rainforest. Paraxylobates burii Ermilov spec. nov. differs from the single known species, P. imitans Balogh & Mahunka, 1969 by the short interlamellar and adanal setae and the presence of one pair of notogastral setae. |
