abstractThe oribatid mite genus Brassiella (Oribatida, Caloppiidae) is recorded for the first time from Taiwan. A new species of this genus is described from leaves of Tabebuia chrysantha of Qiaotou Sugar Factory; Brassiella taiwanica Ermilov sp. n. differs from all other species by the following combination of morphological traits: lamellae not reaching insertions of lamellar setae; lamellar setae dilated mediodistally, interlamellar setae leaf-shaped, bothridial setae globose; twelve pairs of notogastral setae developed, p3 vestigial, p1 and p2 minute, other setae short, leaf-shaped; adanal lyrifissures located in horizontal position; leg solenidia . on tibiae IV swollen distally. New generic diagnosis and an identification key to the known species of Brassiella are provided.
