abstractThe female, nymph, and larva of Ixodes sigelos, n. sp., are described. A total of 7♀, 3 N, and 8 L were collected from Santiago, Maule, and Malleco Provinces, Chile, on chinchilla rat (Abrocoma bennetti), degus (Octodon degus), leaf-eared mouse (Phyllotis sp.), and rock rat (Aconaemys fuscus). A method of preparing ticks for study by scanning electron microscopy is described.
