| abstract | For the Poltava region, 112 species of oribatid mites have been discovered in 5 biotopes. Species maximum was found in river forest (87), minimum - in river meadow (24) with the density of 28276-5872 specimens per sq.m. Maximum quantity of eggs in females was in spring and in autumn. In 45 species females contain 1 to 12 eggs. Females of Zetorchestes micronichus (Berl.) were dominating. For 9 months of 1983-1984 in a stationary steppe plot, 25 pecies of orbatids were registered in soil profile (0-100 cm). Oribatids in the profile are characterized by mosaic distribution, most mites inhabit superficial 10-cm horizon with maximum density in September - 6532 specimens per sq.m. |
