| abstract | The present knowledge on the rotundabaloghid mites is summarized in this work. A new system was esthabilished where the family Rotundabaloghiidae contains two new subfamilies, the Rotundabaloghiinae n. subfam., with the genera Angulobaloghia Hirschmann, 1979 and Rotundabaloghia Hirschmann, 1975; and the Depressorotundinae n. subfam with the genera Didepressorotunda n. gen. and Depressorotunda Kontschán, 2010.
The other results are the descriptions of two new subgenera [Rotundabaloghia (Circobaloghia) n. subgen. and Depressorotunda (Amerorotunda) n. subgen.] and eight new species [Rotundabaloghia (Circobaloghia) stellata sp. nov.; Rotundabaloghia (Circobaloghia) lineata sp. nov.; Rotundabaloghia (Circobaloghia) hauseri sp. nov.; Rotundabaloghia (Circobaloghia) panamana sp. nov.; Rotundabaloghia (Circobaloghia) mexicana sp. nov.; Rotundabaloghia (Circobaloghia) lazoki sp. nov.; Depressorotunda (Amerorotunda) ecuadorica sp. nov.; Depressorotunda (Amerorotunda) splendida sp. nov.)]. Eight Rotundabaloghia species are moved to the genus Angulobaloghia [Angulobaloghia cuyi (Hiramatsu & Hirschmann, 1992) comb. nov.; Angulobaloghia luzonensis (Hiramatsu & Hirschmann, 1992) comb. nov.; Angulobaloghia danyii (Kontschán, 2008) comb. nov.; Angulobaloghia pyrigynella (Hirschmann, 1992) comb. nov.; Angulobaloghia triangulata (Kontschán, 2008) comb. nov.; Angulobaloghia vietnamensis (Kontschán, 2008) comb. nov.; Angulobaloghia aokii (Hiramatsu, 1979) comb. nov.].
