abstractA new species of Cerocepheus (Oribatida, Cerocepheidae) is described from rainforest litter in southern Chile. Cerocepheus osornoensis sp. nov. differs from Cerocepheus mirabilis by the smaller body size and the presence of bidentate lamellar cusps. Revised generic diagnosis, data on distribution of Cerocepheus and an identification key to known species of Cerocepheidae are presented.
