| abstract | Distribution patterns and taxonomic relationships of twelve species of oribatid mites collected in Ghana, West Africa, are discussed. The species belong to the following genera: Eohypochthonius, Malacoangelia, (Hypochthoniidae); Cosmochthonius (Cosmochthoniidae); Sphaerochthonius (Sphaerochthoniidae); Afronothrus, Allonothrus (Trhypochthoniidae); Basilobelba, Tectoppia. A new subspecies is designated, Basilobelba retiarius (Warb.), ssp. symmetrica n.ssp. Bibliographic references are given for each of the species discussed. |
