| abstract | A new oribatid mite species of the family Otocepheidae is described from Chile. Pseudotocepheus parafoveolatus Ermilov sp. n. differs from P. foveolatus Hammer 1966 in the presence of stiff interlamellar setae, as well as stiff medium-sized notogastral setae lm, lp, h3 and p3; and the absence of a foveolate body surface. A detailed supplementary description of the otocepheid species, Leptotocepheus (Longocepheus) sexidimorphus (Vasiliu et Călugăr 1977) comb. n., newly transferred from the genus Pseudotocepheus, is provided. This redescription is based on specimens from Cuba. |
