| abstract | A new laelapid genus, Chapalaelaps gen. nov. is erected and described to accommodate Chapalaelaps granulatus comb. nov. and C. latisternalis comb. nov. Important differences exist between Chapalaelaps and other close genera supporting recognition of Chapalaelaps as a genus level taxon. A new species, Chapalaelaps secretumsternalis sp. nov. is described based on specimens collected in litter from French Guyana. A key for separation of species of the new genus is presented. |
