| abstract | A new quill mite species Rafapicobia olszanowskii sp. nov., belonging to the subfamily Picobiinae (Acariformes: Syringophilidae), is described from quills of contour feathers of the Toucan Barbet Semnornis ramphastinus (Jardine) (Piciformes: Semnornithidae) from Ecuador. Our finding is the first record of syringophilid mites on birds of the family Semnornithidae. |
