abstractThe present study is based on oribatid mite material collected from Altai Mountains, southern part of Western Siberia, Altai Republic, Russia. A list of 30 species, belonging to 30 genera and 24 families, is presented. Of these, one genus (Neotrichoppia) and three species (Epidamaeus munkhbayari, Proteremaeus chadaevae, Peloribates angulatus) are recorded for the first time in Russia. One new species – Neotrichoppia (Confinoppia) ulaganensis Ermilov sp. nov. – is described which is different from closely related species/subspecies – N. (C.) confinis confinis, N. (C.) confinis tenuiseta and N. (C.) variabilis – by the relatively large distance between lamellar and interlamellar setae, and localization of interlamellar seta between bothridia (behind costulae and transcostula). The generic diagnosis of Neotrichoppia is revised. An identification key to all known representatives of this genus is provided.
