abstractAn account is given of the external morphology of the Otopheidomenidae with particular reference to the specializations associated with the adoption of a parasitic mode of life. The family is considered to be closely related to the Phytoseiidae. One new genus, Hemipteroseius {type: Hempiteroseius womersleyi sp. nov.) and two new species, H. womersleyi from Odontopus sexpunctatus (Hemiptera: Pyrrochoridae) collected in Nigeria and Treatia dysderci sp. n. from Dysdercus howardi (Hemiptera: Pyrrochoridae) collected in Trinidad, are described and figured.
