abstractGahrliepia (Wachia) szechuanica sp. nov.
Shape (engorged) fairly broadly oval, widest in the posterior third and slightly constricted before the middle. Length of idiosoma (engorged) 594.3 µ, width 490.5 µ. Surface striations distinct.
Gnathosoma: Chelicerac apparently simple with only a subterminal toothlet. Galeal setae nude. Palpi stout, palpal claws trifurcatc. All setae on palpal femur, genu and tibia sparsely branched; tarsus dorsally with one plumose seta, ventrally with one sensory tod and 3 plumose setae.
Scutum: Fairly large, pentagonal as figured, widest between PL, narrowing posteriorly and forming a small tongue-like projection at the apex. Surface punctate and scatted with irregular striated depressions. AL and PL apparently straight and very shortly ciliated. AM lacking. PW 1.6 times as AW, and about equal to the distance from the level of PL to that of posterior tip, but greater than the distance from the level of PL to the anterior margin. SB near PL than AL. Scnsilae broadly clavate, with basal stalk very short, on expanded portion provided with rows of prominent sctules. Eyebrows prominent, placed diagonally above and on the inner margin of SB.
Standard measurements: AW 39.5, PW 67.3, SB 36.0, ASB 34.8, PSB 87.0, SD 121.8, AP 51.1, AL 41.8, PL 55.7, S 29.0.
Eyes: 1 + 1, oval and indistinct, widely separated from scutum and on same level as SB; ocular shield lacking.
Dorsum: With 36-39 dorsal setae, arranged as: 4-4-8-7-6-4-4-2=39, 4-4-8-6-4-4-4-2=36 or 4-4-8-4-6-6-4-2 = 38. All DS slightly bent and with short dilations; humeral setae to 51.1 µ long, the others about equal and to 44.1 µ.
Venter: Paired setae on gnathosoma, large and unilaterally plumose. Between coxae I and between coxae III are paired sternal setae (2-2). On coxae I and II, each with one plumose seta; on coxae III each with 2 plumose setae (1-1-2). Behind coxae II are 37-41 ventral setae, slightly bent and shortly ciliated.
Legs: Length of legs including coxae being I272.6 µ,III 236.7 µ and III 275.1 µ. Tarsus I with 1 pretarsala, 1 subterminala and 1 sensory rod; tibia I with 1 microtibiala and 1 sensory rod; genu I with 2 genualae and 1 microgenuala. Tarsus IIwith 1 pretarsala and 1 sensory rod; tibia II with 1 microtibiala and 1 sensory rod; genu II with 1 genuala. Tarsus III and tibia III without any such structures, but genu III with 1 genuala.
Holotype: Larva, collected from Lepus oiostolus on May 28, 1961 from Szechuan Province, China, deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Academia Sinica, Peking.
Paratypes: 3 larvae, collected from the same animal host of holotype, deposited in the said Institute.
