| abstract | Two new species of Thai chiggers with expanded sensillae — Susa traubi n. sp. and Walchiella hanseni n. sp. — from a shrew, Crocidura horsfieldi, and Rattus sp., respectively, are herein described and figured. The genus Susa is recorded from Thailand for the first time, and S. traubi is the fifth species known to date. Walchiella hanseni is the only member of the genus in which the posterolateral setae are the longest of the scutal setae, thus providing a useful link between the Asian genus Walchiella (Fuller) and the Australasian genus Guntherana (Womersley and Heaslip). |
