abstractTrombicula pelta Womersley, 1952, is removed to the genus and subgenus Leptotrombidium, and redescribed and illustrated from material ex Golunda ellioti, Mus musculus homourus, Mus booduga booduga, Rattus blanfordi, R. rattus narbadae, R. rattus rufescens, and Vandeleuria oleracea. Seven new species are described and illustrated as follows: Leptotrombidium (Leptotrombidium) parviscutum n. sp., ex R. blanfordi, R. rattus narbadae, R. rattus rufescens, Mus musculus homourus, Mus booduga booduga, and V. oleracea. L. (L.) wallacei n. sp., ex R. blanfordi, R. rattus narbadae, and R. rattus rufescens. L. (L.) spilletti n. sp., ex R. blanfordi. Leptotrombidium (Trombiculindus) deccanense n. sp., ex G. ellioti, R. rattus rufescens, Mus musculus homourus, Mus booduga booduga, and Suncus stoliczkanus. Neotrombicula (Digenualaea) inflata n. sp., ex G. ellioti, R. blanfordi, R. rattus rufescens, Mus musculus homourus, and Mus booduga booduga. Schoutedenichia schalleri n. sp., ex S. stoliczkanus. Schoengastia kanhaensis n. sp., ex Mabuya dissimilis. All of the species were collected in Kanha National Park, District Mandla, Madhya, Pradesh, India, at elevations between 540-840 m.
