abstractSphodrocepheus mitratus spec.nov. of the family Cepheidae (Acari; Cryptostigmata) is described from Mt. Haruna, Gumma Prefecture, Japan. The genus Sphodorcepheus has hitherto been known only from N. America and also monotypic. The new species differs from the type-species in the structure of lamellae, location, length as well as the texture of notogastral setae and some other features.
