abstract1. theis paper deals with descriptions and records of twelve species belonging to the family Phytoseiidae from Hokkaido.
2. The following ten species are described as new: Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) borealis, Amblyseius (Amblyseius) haimatus, A. (A.) paraki, A. (A.) ainu, A. (A.) morii, A. (A.) firmus, A. (A.)ezoensis, Amblyseius (Kampimodromus maritimus, Phytoseius (Phytoseius) kishii, P. (P.) campestris.
3. Amblyseius (Amblyseius) tsugawai Ehara, and Phytoeius (Phytoseius) nipponicus Ehara are first recorded from Hokkaido.
4. The macrosetae of female leg IV of P. (P.) nipponicus shos much intraspecific variation in tip feature.
5. A key to the species of phytoseiids of Hokkaido is given.
