abstractHemilaelaps philippinensis Voss, n.sp., was found on the snakes Cyclocorus lineatus, Oligodon modestus, and an unidentified species from Negros Island, Philippines. The new mite is related both to Hemilaelaps Ewing, 1933, and to Asiatolaelaps Fain, 1961. On the basis of this new intermediate species, the genus Asiatolaelaps Fain is considered a synonym of Hemilaelaps Ewing.
