abstractThe present paper deals with 5 species of the genus Trombiculindus Radford, 1948, of which three are described as new to science. All the species are synoptized in an appended key. The types of all the new species are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Academia Sinica, Peking.
Trombiculindus (Trombiculindus) bambusoides. sp. nov. (Figs. 1-2)
Body oval, with slightly constriction behind coxae III. Length 390.0-435.0µ. Galeal setae branched. Palpal setae N-N-BNN. Scutum nearly trapezoid, PL leaf-like, with longitudinal rows of short setules, its length about 5 times as wide. Type specimen AW 71.7, PW 91.2, SB 43.9, ASB 29.3, PSB 16.3, A-P 22.8, AM 55.4, AL 35.8, PL 68.4×13.0. Dorsal setae 28 in number, arranged 2-8-6-6-4-2. Leg I 264.0µ, II 247.6µ, III 293.4µ. Type specimen collected off Apodemus agrarius from Yunnan, Feb., 1962.
Trombiculindus (Plumosicola) yunnanus, sp. nov. (Figs. 3-4)
Body oval, length 453.7µ, width 258.7µ. Galeal setae branched. Palpal setae N-N-BNN. Scutum nearly trapezoid, PL narrow flat, willow-leaf-like. Type specimen AW 88.0, PW 99.4, SB 40.7, ASB 32.6, PSB 22.8, AM 55.4, AL 42.3, PL 65.2×9.7, Sens. 74.9. Dorsal setae 32 in number, arranged 2-8-6-6-6-2-2. Leg I 352.5µ, II 322.5µ, III 382.5µ. Type specimen collected off Apodemus agrarius from Yunnan, Mar., 1963. This species resembles Trombiculindus (Plumosicola) fordi, but with larger scutum and less dorsal setae.
Trombicalindus (Plumosicola) hylomydis, sp. nov. (Figs. 5-6)
Body broadly oval, length 260.8--286.8µ, width 179.3-198.8µ. Galeal setae branched. Palpal setae N-N-BNN. Scutum nearly rectangle, PL narrow, flat, willow-leaf-like. Type specimen AW 66.8, PW 76.5, SB 34.2, ASB 27.6, PSB 14.6, A-P 21.1, AM 52.1, AL 35.8, PL 42.3×4.8. Dorsal setae 34 in number, arranged 2-8-6-6-6-4-2. Leg I 260.8µ, II 228.2µ, III 264.0µ. Type specimen collected off Hylomys suillus peguensis from Yunnan, Jan., 1960. This species resembles Trombiculindus (Plumosicola) traubi, but with less dorsal setae.
