abstractHarpyrhynchus herodius and H. butorides are described from Ardea h. herodius and Butorides v. virescnes. They differ markedly from the two species reported from North American birds - all passerines. The new species constitute the first records from the Ciconiiformes. Larvae, nymphs, and adults were present. They were associated with the powder dosn portions of the skin and appeared to cause not pathological condition.
