| abstract | Two new species, Tegeocranellus knysnaensis and Tegeocranellus sacchareus, are described. A comprehensive redescription of the inadequately described and poorly figured Tectocepheus sarekensis (Trägardh, 1910) Balogh, 1943 is also given. Special attention has been paid to the chaetotaxy of the legs as an additional means of distinguishing between closely related taxa.
It is suggested that the genera Tegeocranellus Berlese, 1913 and Lamellocepheus Balogh, 1961 be removed from the family Tectocepheidae Grandjean.
Further work is necessery to clear up the systematic position of the various taxa of the family Tectocepheidae Grandjean, 1953, especially that of the genus Tectocepheus Berlese, 1895. |
