abstractArgas (Argas) japonicus, n. sp., is described from numerous m, f, nymphs and larvae collected from swallows (Delichon urbica dasypus [Bonaparte] and Hirundo daurica japonica Temminck & Schlegel) and swallow nests in Japan and Korea. The new species is closely related to A. (A.) cooleyi of western North America and A. (A.) lagenoplastis of Australia, both of which also parasitize swallows, but differs in combinations of critical characters.
