abstractSix new species of mites of the family Rhinonyssidae are described: Rhinonyssus spinactitis sp.n. from Actitis macularia (L.) (Scolopacidae), Tinaminyssus carapachibeyus sp.n. from Geotrygon chrysia Salvadori (Columbidae), Mesonyssus geotrygoni sp.n. from the same host, Passeronyssus vireonis sp.n. from Vireo olivaceus (L.) (Vireonidae), Passeronyssus havanensis sp.n. from Vireo flavifrons Vieillot and Vireo griseus (Boddaert) (Vireonidae) and Sternostomoides orlandoi sp.n. from Mimocichla plumbea schistacea Baird and M. p. rubripes (Temminck) (Turdidae). All these species were collected in Cuba or Isla de Pinos.
