abstractTwo species of hypopial nymphs of mites of the family Hypoderidae were recovered from the subcutaneous tissues of the white ibis, Eudocimus albus, collected in Louisiana. Phalacrodectes whartoni is recorded for the first time and Neottialges eudocimae is described as a new species from this host. The new species differs from others of the genus Neottialges by the size of the idiosoma, idiosomal chaetotaxy, structure of the terminal spine on tarsus III, and the structure of the genital suckers and sclerites. N. eudocimae is otherwise similar toother species of the genus.
