abstractXenarthronyssus, n. gen., is erected for X. furmani, n. sp., off Central and South American armadillos. Two subspecies are described, X. f. furmani off Dasypus hybridus in Uruguay and X. f. bifidus off Dasypus novemcinctus in Panamá. The family Dasyponyssidae is here restricted to the Neotropical genera Dasyponyssus Fonseca, 1940 (type species D. neivai) and Xenarthrotiyssus. Manitherionyssidae, n. fam., is proposed for the Ethiopian genus Manitherionyssus Vitzthum, 1925 (type species Liponyssus heterotarsus Vitzthum, 1925).
