abstractEadiea silvatica n.sp. parasitic on Dymecodon pilirostris taken in Mt. Fuji was described basing on 2 females and 5 males. The new species resembles closely E. brevihamata which infests Neurotrichus gibbsiii in North America as well as Talpa europaea in England. Both the mite species are, however, clearly separated from each other by the form of the ventral setae on trochanters II and III; E. silvatica bears simple setae, while E. brevihamata has peg-like, striated oness. The Japanese name, Himehimizu-marukemochidani, was proposed for this mite.
