| abstract | Each active stage of Argas (Argas) monachus, n. sp. is described and illustrated from material associated with Myiopsitta monachus (Boddaert), a communal-nesting psittacine bird in Argentina. The host species is found in Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay, and Bolivia as well as Argentina and is an important agricultural pest in some areas; it has recently become established in breeding populations in the northeastern United States. |
