| abstract | A new genus and species of macronyssid mite from the Panama long-tongued bat, Lonchophylla robusta Miller, is described from a single female specimen. The new genus, Chiroecetes, is diagnosed and the new species, C. lonchophylla, is described and illustrated. The relationship between this new genus and species and related macronyssid mites is discussed. |
