abstractDentachipteria, a new genus, and two species of oribatid mites are described. Species are recognized by the large downward pointing lamellae the broad rostrum, and presence of denticles on the distal margins of the pteromorphs. In D. ringwoodensis there are many pteromorphic denticles, in D. highlandensis there is a single large denticle. In D. ringwoodensis leg 1 is held beneath the lamellae, in D. highlandensis leg 1 is free.
