abstractThewkachela ratufi, (Cheyletidae: Acariformes) is described from adult females taken from Ratufa affinis (Sciuridae: Rodentia) in Sabah, formerly North Borneo, and R. bicolor and R. affinis in Thailand. The mites are unique among known Cheyletidae in possessing a large recurved hook arising from the ventral surface of the subcapitulum.
