abstractGhilarovus hispanicus, a new species of oribatid mite belonging to the Family Zetomotrichidae is described. This is the first species in the genus that has been found in Europe. Data are given concerning the differential characters between the new and the other species in the genus. The genera belonging to the Zetomotrichidae are examined and Ghilarovus accepted as a valid genus. G. hispanicus is a saxicolous mite that has been found at the Sierra de Cazorla in the Southern range of mountains, in Spain.
