| abstract | The author describes two new species, C. quadrangulus and C. montanus belonging to the genus Carabodes; they are similar to the classical entity C. marginatus (Michael) because of the morphology of the notogastral microsculpture.
In the authorʼs opinion, the two species differentiate from the other Carabodes as follows:
C. quadrangulus differs from C. marginatus in having 2 big prodorsal tubercles and in the morphology of the interlamellar and notogastral hairs and in the sensilla. In particular, the curved shaped of the marginal notogastral hairs is characteristic. The prodorsal and ventral microsculptures are good diagnostic elements.
Know distribution is Italy, Dalmatia, Algeria and Provence.
C. montanus differs from C. marginatus and C. quadrangulus because of the erect interlamellar and marginal notogastral hairs, compact morphology of the notogastral hairs, shape and length of the sensilla and the ventral microsculpture. The prodorsal microsculpture is rather similar to that of C. quadrangulus, not of C. marginatus.
Known distribution is the Dolomites the Apuan Alps . |
