| abstract | Two new laelaptid mites collected from Shaowu, Fujian in August, 1977 off Rhizomys sinensis davidi are described as follows:
Rhyzolaelaps rhizomydis, sp. nov.
Female Body 0.78-0.85mm long. Dorsal plate with less than 37 pairs of setae, M6 I3 and sometimes T2 of one side absent. Deutosternum with six rows of teeth. St1 of sternal plate situated in presternal area. About 1/3 specimens with VI2 set off the genitoventral plate in one or both side. Tectum with sharp process. The differences between Rhyzolaelaps rhizomydis sp. nov. and Rhyzolaelaps inaequipilis are shown in the table given in the Chinese text.
Holotype ♀, allotype♂, paratypes 70♀♀, 6♂♂, 8 protonymphs and 11 deutonymphs, all deposited in the Fujian Research Institute of Epidemic Diseases.
Laelaps pachysternus, sp. nov.
Female Body somewhat elongate, 0.57-0.62mm long. Gnathosoma, the anterior part of idiosoma and all legs heavy sclerotized. Spine-like setae on coxa I and II situated on a sclerotized epidermal process. Coxa III with a small spine-like seta. Pilus dentilis club-shaped. Genito-ventral plate with four pairs of slender setae. Dorsal plate with 34 pairs of setae, M6, I1-I3, absent.
