abstractThe present paper deals with 3 new species of Haemolaelaps collected off rodents from Guizhou Province, China. All type materials are deposited in the Department of Parasitology, Guiyang Medical College.
1. Haemolaelaps anourosorecis, sp. nov.
Female (figs. 1-3) Idiosoma oval, 551µ in length, 398µ in width. Dorsal plate bearing 39 pairs of small setae, without accessory seta. Pilus dentilis as figured. Sternal plate 71µ long (in middle) and 172µ wide (maximum); anterior margin convex in middle, posterior margin concave; 3 pairs of sternal setae subequal in length, St1 situated on presternal area; the anterior pair of slit-like pores situated at the anterior margin of the plate. Genitoventral plate elongated, slightly expanded at the posterior margin; length 240µ, width 117µ. Anal plate wider than long, 95×161µ, with anterior margin concave, lateral angles saddle-like or broadly rounded; the paired setae situated behind the middle of anus, being slightly shorter than the posterior one. Peritreme long, extending anteriorly to the middle of coxa I. The naked area of venter behind coxae IV with about 19 pairs of setae.
Male (figs. 4-5) and deutonymph (fig. 6) are also described in the Chinese text.
Holotype (♀), allotype (♂) and paratypes (7♀♀, 2 deutonymphs) were collected off Anourosorex squamipes Milne-Edwards, in Oct. 1976, from Suiyang, Guizhou.
The present species resembles Haemolaelaps triangularis Wang, 1963, but the anal plate of the new species is broad, its lateral angles being truncated or saddle-shaped, while that of H. triangularis is triangular. The setae on scutum of the new species are smaller than those of H. triangularis. Pilus dentilis is obviously different.
2. Haemolaelaps praeporus, sp. nov.
Female (figs. 7-9) Idiosoma oval, 507×342µ. Dorsal plate almost covered the entire dorsum, with 39 pairs of principal setae and 3 accessory setae, all the setae small, but F2 long and strong, twice as long as M11. Sternal plate 113µ long (in middle) and 131µ wide (maximum), anterior margin convex in middle, posterior margin concave, St1 situated in the anterior margin of the plate, the anterior pair of slit-like pores arranged transversely between St1. Genitoventral plate 195µ in length and 98µ in width. Anal plate pear-like, 82×95µ; the paired setae situated behind the middle of anus, being shorter than the posterior one. The posteroventral margin of opisthosoma with a pair of characteristic setae, its distal portion heavier than the proximal portion, and with a pit on the tip.
Type specimen was collected off Rattus losea Swinhoe, in Oct. 1978, from Rongjiang, Guizhou.
The characteristics of the new species are: Sternal plate is rather small and the anterior pair of the slit-like pores are arranged between St1. The setae on scutum are very small, except F1 which is heavy and long. A setal pair on the posterior margin of the idiosoma is rather heavy and in particular form. By these diagnostic characters the new species may be distinguished from all known species of Haemolaelaps.
3 Haemolaelaps sanduensis, sp. nov.
Female (figs. 10-13) Idiosoma oval, length 807µ, width 517µ. Dorsal plate with 39 pairs of principal setae and a single accessory seta situated between D8. The non-sclerotized portion of dorsum bearing 10 pairs of setae, the posterior 6 pairs slightly feathered. Digitus fixus with 4 small teeth, pilus dentilis inflated, the slender terminal portion bent at right angle; a specific circular transparent structure situated between the two digits. Sternal plate 111µ long (at middle), 156µ wide (at the narrowest point): anterior margin moderately convex at middle, posterior margin rather strongly concave; St1 situated on anterior margin of the plate, being shorter than the other pairs; St2 longest, its apex beyond the posterior margin of the plate. Genitoventral plate flask-like, 352µ long, 168µ wide. Sculptured as figured. Anal plate triangular, with round corners width 131µ, length 119µ. Ad situated a little behind the middle of anus, shorter than PA. Peritreme extending anteriorly to the middle of coxa I. Metapodal plate elongated. Unsclerotized portion behind coxa IV with 12 pairs of setae, the posterior 6 pairs slightly feathered.
Holotype ♀ collected off Mus pahari Thomas, in Feb. 1979, from Sandu.
The new species closely resembles Haemolaelaps macroventralis Asanuma, 1953, however there are differences between them: Number of setae on the scutum of the new species exceeds that of H. macroventralis by 1 1/2 pairs; similarly, the number of setae on the unarmed area of idiosoma of the new species exceeds that of H. macroventralis, and the posterior setal pairs of the new species are slightly feathered. Digitus fixus of the new species is not bifid but with 4 small teeth, there is a particular transparent structure situated between the two digits.
